Matariki Network Executive Board Meeting at Durham University

The Matariki Network of Universities was warmly hosted by Durham University for our annual Executive Board meeting from 16–18 September. Vice Chancellor and Warden, Professor Karen O’Brien, welcomed representatives from across our global partnership to the historic city of Durham.

This gathering provided a valuable opportunity for member institutions to reconnect, strengthen collaborations, and welcome new colleagues into the Network. As always, our shared commitment to international engagement remains central to advancing global knowledge and fostering responsible global citizenship.

Delegates were treated to a rich cultural programme that showcased Durham’s unique character. Highlights included a tour of Durham Castle and a moving performance by the Durham University Staff Choir in the Great Hall. Visits to the Oriental Museum, Palace Green, and the iconic Durham Cathedral, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offered further insight into the university’s vibrant academic and cultural environment.

Together, we continue to build a dynamic and inclusive network that champions excellence in research, teaching, and community engagement across continents.
