Dartmouth College is a private research university located in Hanover, New Hampshire, United States of America.  Founded in 1769, it is a member of the Ivy League and offers undergraduate, graduate, and research programs spanning more than 60 disciplines.  Consistently ranked by U.S. News and World Report in the top tier of American research universities, Dartmouth enrolls approximately 4,500 undergraduates and 2,100 graduate students.

The College of Arts and Sciences at Dartmouth is a multidisciplinary faculty where undergraduate and graduate students receive a broad-based, liberal arts education that emphasizes analysis and critical thinking.  Dartmouth’s world class facilities provide opportunities for study and research on campus and a perspective that fosters global engagement.

Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, founded in 1797, is one of America’s top medical schools, with clinical education partnerships across the country and around the world.  Through The Dartmouth Center for Healthcare Delivery Science, it offers an innovative masters program in Healthcare Delivery Science.  Geisel has clinical partnerships with the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (Vermont), and the California Pacific Medical Center.  A major focus for physicians and researchers is global health.  The Geisel School is recognized worldwide for excellence in research, including leadership in genetics, bioinformatics, population health, cancer, cystic fibrosis, neuroscience, and psychiatry.

Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, established in 1867, is one of the oldest professional schools of engineering in the United States, founded and organized around the belief that engineering in the context of a liberal arts education provides the best preparation for solving the world’s problems.  Thayer School operates with a unified Department of Engineering Sciences offering both undergraduate and graduate programs through the Ph.D.  Teaching and research focuses on three areas — engineering in medicine; energy technologies; and complex systems — that crosscut traditional engineering disciplines and address critical human needs.

Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, founded in 1900, is the first graduate school of management in the United States, and consistently ranks among the top business schools worldwide.  Tuck remains distinctive among the world’s great business schools by combining human scale with global reach, rigorous coursework with experiences requiring teamwork, and valued traditions with innovation.

International Partnerships
Dartmouth is a member of the Matariki Network of Universities, is active in the governance system of the University of the Arctic, participates in a consortium of medical schools working to build capacity in Rwanda and Tanzania, and works closely with a diverse group of partners in Kosovo including universities and government ministries.  Dartmouth also partners with the American University of Kuwait, is a founding member of the Wennberg International Collaborative at the London School of Economics, and is a partner institution with Waseda University in its Global Leadership Fellows Program.  In addition, Dartmouth administers more than 30 off-campus international and domestic study programs for undergraduates.  Dartmouth also partners with international universities to enhance research, support scholarship, and foster innovative collaborations.

Research
Dartmouth is a broad based research university with expertise in an array of academic disciplines from engineering to the medical sciences, arts and humanities.  Granted $219 million in external funding in 2013, Dartmouth researchers are pioneers in the areas of tuberculosis, solar technologies, healthcare delivery science and policy, neuroscience, Arctic Studies, cyber security, cancer nanotechnology, post-traumatic stress disorder, Native American Studies, and more.  Recently named to the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) highly competitive Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program, Dartmouth is also recognized as a Center for Academic Excellence by the National Security Agency and as a Center of Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence by the National Cancer Institute.

Libraries
Dartmouth’s libraries, with over 2.9 million volumes, comprise one of the largest academic research library complexes in New England.  Dartmouth’s main library facility, Baker-Berry, offers several distinctive collections, including the Stefansson Collection on Polar Exploration, the Williams Watson Theater Collection, the archives of the internationally known Pilobolus Dance Theater, the Robert Frost Collection, and the White Mountains Collection.  Specialized libraries include The Dana Biomedical Library, the Evans Map Room, Jones Media Center, the Feldberg Business and Engineering Library, the Kresge Physical Sciences Library, Rauner Special Collections, and the Sherman Art Library.

Centers and Institutes
Dartmouth has more than 70 centers, institutes, research groups and laboratories in areas ranging from medicine, social policy, humanities and the arts, to engineering and business.
